Go to Post Would FIRST be as amazing if not for CD? I mean it would still be this amazing place for students and mentors to be but the explosion of innovation and gathering of people together across communities has to have been greatly effected by CD. - dodar [more]

Re: Unrelated?

I will major in Math and Physics next year in college. It's not too 'unrelated', but it isn't as common in FIRST as engineering. My brother, a Freshman, does plan on being an engineer, however

Re: Unrelated?

I still have about a year left to decide, but the major which I will most likely have (something would have to go terribly wrong to change it) is computer science. However, my planned minor(s) is either German or Philosophy, and both are pretty unrelated to robotics. However, FIRST has influenced my work ethic (and my number of friends: x > 0), which will help with any major / minor.

You never know when engineering can help.
Like if you work with machines... Who knows what can go wrong and if you could fix it because of what you learned.

Also, FIRST kids are better problem solvers. Which can come in handy anywhere.

We think outside of the box and onto the graph paper.

Re: Unrelated?

I'm going to Saint Joe's University in Philly for Accounting. And then I plan on going to law school for Business Law. On our team I worked in the PR/Marketing area and was the president this year. So, being apart of FIRST has helped me decide what I want to do.

Hey is anyone else going to Saint Joe's? Let me know if you are!

Re: Unrelated?

I plan on dual majoring in Biochem/Biophysics and Chemistry. Both are similar to your (Original poster) major but very unrelated to Robotics. It is related to FIRST though being part of the S in the acronym.

What could be better for a FIRST team than to have their own chef to cook for them during build season
