How many days a week are other teams working on their CDI robots? How many hours a week?

We (team 70) are working 2 days a week, about 6-7 hours and we seem to be pretty well on track.

This last week the team(240) and I have met in my pole barn every day. We will usually work for 2-3 daily hours during the week and 6-8 on the weekend days. Our problem is we keep getting off track, such as standing around talking, instead of getting some serious work done. I think much of this is due to the fact that half of our team made up of rookies who can't seem to find anything to work on without being told yet. We are making quite a bit of progress though

When i thought in the past that my team was struggling due to poor funding & poor facilities. It didnt really come to mind that we weren't working as much as other teams. Unfortunatly, if my team tried to impose those hours, we would have about 4 people on the team. Last year we had multiple members quit the team when it was announced that we would be expected to work 14 hours/week. Thanks for the insight.

I personally would jump at the chance to be able to put that amount of time in. We are however actually limited on the number of hours we are able to work. Our 'coaches' are only there for about 2 hours a day. Every day after school they take off at 6, with some students still willing to work.

Saturday was a 15 hour day on the robot. Probably about the average.

We cannot afford to burn people out before the FIRST season starts. So we do 3 hours each on Monday and Wednesday and 8 hours on the weekends. Although, this week we will meet Monday through Thursday.

My team has been working anywhere from 2 to 6 hours after school every day. The weekend time varies...usually both days, but probably around 4 hours per day. We seem to be doing pretty well in terms of time. Hopefully we'll be finished when we see you all on Saturday.

Janna
