Re: Team 1477 Submission

I'm soooo happy someone noticed that. The zipties were pretty last minute on my part... but I couldn't leave em off... same with all the nuts on all of the bolts, its just not right to have one without the other.

I was happily perusing the submissions and I must say yours caught my eye. You say you did it solo? That is incredible, I have to add my own predictions of success for your entry, very impressive!

I'll add a link to the full submission as soon as I find how to edit my post... the edit button seems to be MIA at the moment.

Re: Team 1477 Submission

Very nicely done. As a CAD professional I am very impressed with the quality of the work. The reflective plane and lighting are very well done.

Re: Team 1477 Submission

Whoooo hooo!

We won our Lone Star regional and we won a design control innovation award, and in the process our lead mentor (and my Physics and also Electronics teacher) made himself look like he's crying and hollering in the Houston Chronicle. Hahah.

Just scroll over a dozen or so the guys with the white shirts with the red/blue/white circles in the middle... you can't miss 'em.

VERY nice! Chain, bolts, even dangling wires/hoses! Totally Realistic!

Great job, I hope you guys win. This is the best thing I've seen so far!

Question Re: Team 1477 Submission

Hey,
I really like your robot and the CAD model and am glad you did so well.
One thing made me curious though. Your forks look very, very long. When they are level, how long are they? Aren't they interfering with the 80 inch cylinder? I tried to measure it in Inventor because I am really interested in it. They were both 87 inches? Do I make any mistake there?
I hope you get into the finals, well, I am pretty sure actually. Congrats to your wins...

Re: Team 1477 Submission

Well oddly enough nobody caught that 80 inch thing... even me.. probably becaues once I finished the arm I turned it off and removed it from the assembly so as to make my computer not die as fast... It brought 3gb of ddr2, a 3.0ghz q6600, and 8800gts, all oc'd, to its knees. So.. by the time anyone realized it (first person being someone earlier in the thread, lol), it was already rendered and sent. However, we did actually chop the "tusks" (as we call them) down so that the part parallel to the floor is significantly shorter, and also inside the 80in cylinder.

You are so lucky to have a job as senior in high school working in CAD. I will graduating this May with my A.A.S in drafting and I wish I had job doing models. Keep up the good work

Do you think it was because of your difference in CAD submitted ?

Hey Aceanuu,
congratulations from me (and Team 1983) for your "Best Use of Professional Modules" Phillie. It is very well deserved! I will probably come over during the competition...your model is awesome! I was seriously surprised you didn't make the finals! But there will be a next year...and I know for sure your robot's gonna rock! Good luck during the competition
