What to do with...?

Today we received a donation of about 1000 lbs of stainless steel foil, in various thicknesses and widths. Does anyone have any ideas for a project involving this foil? Let me know!

Save the thicker stuff for prototyping and brackets and such next year. Use the rest for signs and accents other things of that nature. It depends, though. What type of thicknesses did you get, how did it come, how big(length and width) it is?

Sounds awesome. I would make something. Not sure what though. I wouldn't use it on the bot, it is too heavy. Prototyping is a good idea. Maybe donate it to your welders? Think if there is anything your school is in need of that you can make. It is a good way to get heard by the school.

make a giant solar collector and use it to make steam to run a turbine and generator. Then use if to charge your batteries and go green for the off season.

You could scrap the stuff you can't use and get the money for it. Last time I was a the scrap yard, stainless was doing pretty well, I think.

Let your team's minds wonder. Is it like, tin foil? Or more like, blocks?

Divide the team into groups, 3-4 groups of students, and the mentors in 1-2 groups (depending on how many you have). Tell them they have 1 hour to make something out of the foil and at the end, not only to they have to be done, but then they have to sell what they've made to the rest of the team. See what they can come up with!

If it is thin foil of reasonable size, contact a heat-treating business or a custom knifemaker's supply outfit. You may be able to sell some at a very good price and use the proceeds for something useful.
