Whoa, our first rookie year was 1994

First I would like to say thanks to 1983 and 2046 for getting us to the Championship Event by winning the Microsoft Regional. I would also like to say thanks to 900 and 987 for loaning us drills and putting up with our rock star approach to the competition.

In looking around the old PNW-First yahoo group I stumbled upon a post by Larry Barello about Bellevue High School participating in the 1994 competition. So I wandered over the TechnoKats’s History Archive and sure enough, there ‘we’ are Bellevue High back in 1994.

It’s kinda weird to see a whole different team from the school I mentor. It’s also very odd to think my current team leadership was only three years old in 1994.

I wonder if I can get the FIRST team information system updated to show this new find .

PS Thank you TechnoKats for hosting this archive.

I do like the title of this post and I have a question about it. You can have more than one rookie year, so there is a second rookie year and a third, cool!

So I guess we're not the oldest team on the West Coast anymore...

Have you been continually active since 1994?

No, we have not been, your record still stands, we have a seven year gap of not competing. Bellevue's program is different, the mentors are different, the teachers are different, and the sponsors are different, we really are a different team. Our real rookie year was 2002 and it will always be, though, it would be cool to have one line saying 1994 on the team info page, however I will not give up the 949 number no matter what, even for an older number.
