Team Nicknames??

Hello fellow FIRST masochists,
I am looking for a list of the team nicknames. Our rookie team is planning to use RoboStangs, which may be a fairly popular nickname. Anyone know where I can find a listing of the teams including nicknames?????

I don't know if there is a complete list... but you have probably come to the right place to see if there is another 'RoboStang' name out there.

I have not heard of another 'RoboStang' team.

There are RoboDawgs and WildStangs... there are also RoboTicks and TechnoTicks and TechnoKats... and don't forget the RoboStars, the RoboWarriors, Robahamas, and Roboworks (Michigan Roboworks, that is).

Some of the more unique names are...
Circuit Stompers
Westside Boiler Invasion
Cheesy Poofs
Truck Town Terror
Juggernauts
Full Metal Jackets (formerly the Bee Bots)
and
Las Gurellas

There are a lot of good team nicknames out there... many more than I listed. These are just some of my favorites. Yep, this is more than you asked for... but as you can see on these forums, advice is free flowing and non-restrained. You'll usually get more than what you asked for.

Opinions around here are kinda like cable ties... everyone's got them and uses them often. They're pretty cheap, so people like to give them out freely. Some are loose and others are strong and tightly crimped.

Andy B.

ps... sorry for the rambling, but with only 21 days 'til Kickoff, I'm getting kinda uppity.

You should try to get a copy of the FIRST program from last year (2000). It has every team's nickname, logo etc. I don't have one, but you can ask someone from the FIRST organization and hopefully they have it.

Maybe we should ask Lori to put a list of teams, including nicknames, on their website.

Welcome to the CD board, Ernie!

As far as nicknames, I have to say that some teams use them differently than others. For instance, my team

Our official name is the Sie-H2O-Bots. Sie- standing for the Siemon Company, a sponsor; H2O-, for all you chem buffs, being the symbol for water, representing Watertown, and Bots is self-explanatory

But! We change our nickname each year. Our first year we came up with the 'Black Magic Team', which people didnt like by the end of the season. It was then changed to 'Sunseekers' for our 2nd year, and it was decided that we would change our nickname each year to differentiate between years, since we're eally known for Sie-H2O-Bots anyway.....this year, we are now the 'T.R.I.B.E.'....dont ask me what it means, its got a lot of meanings.

So...are you talking about your team name or your nickname? Personally, while I agree with the rest of the responders, I feel it's kinda all up to your own interpretation, whether you want to even have a nickname or to change it, or whatever. Good luck!

-Jessica B, #237
