In fact, where do you live to get $2.17 per gallon? It's over $3 here in Oregon.

Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places

During the CNN Super-Duper Tuesday coverage, one of the analysts at some point wrote a huge 840 on a US map to represent the number of delegates at stake... maybe it means we're going to Nationals for the first time?

Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places

Meh, it's already over $4 a gallon for the cheapest here. But on Saturday I was at this pizza place in San Jose and spazzed when I noticed the place number was 1072. Go Harker! And I also twitched when in Stat class we were told to turn to page 766. I looked up 766 in our Bio book, too. And a friend of mine and I picked out 766, 701, 341 and plenty of other team numbers in another friend's pi shirt. This is what we do during breaks in the school day...

Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places

today I was working on teaching students how to solve right triangles using both the Pythagorean Theorem and trig. I used a Pyth. Triple that just happened to be 16, 30, X. When students found the value of X^2 to be 1156, I fondly remembered working with this Brazilian team our rookie year at the NJ regional at the RAC back in 2003. Two consecutive perfect squares working together perfectly. (33^2 = 1089, 34^2 = 1156). I still have my 1156 team shirt that I pulled out last week!

Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places

Although it's not exactly "everyday life", the U.S. constitution was written in 1787. I have suggested on many occasions that we make reference to this in our team name. My teammates were not amused, however.
