Inside the driver's station

Down in ATL I recorded myself coaching for a match. I had planned on doing all our matches, but that fell through.
I got one clean recording at it was the first match on Friday, Match 6 on Curie.
I took the audio I recorded and laid it overtop the video from the match. (Thanks George)

I think it gives an interesting view on the match. I also realized how little I actually say while coaching.
I plan on recording at Battlecry and doing the same thing. Let me know what you think.

Re: Inside the driver's station

I like the idea a lot; it gives all of the people who don't stand behind the driver station a better idea of what goes on. Also, it would be interesting to compare the first match of the day Friday to eliminations Saturday afternoon. During qualifications this year, I didn't talk much either when coaching because the strategy we laid out before the match didn't need much change; there wasn't much unexpected going on, and there was virtually no defense. However, the elimination matches turned up the heat really fast and strategy was changing every second. I didn't shut up those matches.

Re: Inside the driver's station

There was someone going around in Atlanta asking if he could record the audio from some of the robocoaches...what happened to that? The overlay is awesome.

Re: Inside the driver's station

haha we talked about doing that, but we kinda figured that it wouldn't be a good idea. Mainly since myself (base driver) and our arm driver tend to yell back and forth at eachother at times. And its really interesting when our coach does the same. Its never bad yelling its just in the heat of the moment yelling. Usually we really start going at it when we are about to place the trackball, or when something goes wrong

During the Semis in Colorado (keep in mind we were 30-40 pts ahead at the time) we were going to place the trackball on the overpass and we had the ball right over the "hole" and the claws wouldnt open. Our coach and I were yelling at the top of our lungs "LET GO! LET GO! LET GO!" and then all we hear from our arm guy "I CANT! I CANT!!" needless to say we didnt cap, but we still won by like 30 or so. The funny part was that i could see in the corner of my eye the ppl standing in the queue just staring at us in awe cause we were yelling so loud at eachother when we didn't even need those pts.

That would have been amazing. I was talking to the robot from the robocoach station.

Re: Inside the driver's station

That gives a really good perspective on what happens with a drive team. Some video of how you interacted with the rest of the alliance would be cool, too, but that was great.

Re: Inside the driver's station

Wow i did the same thing this year! only i set up a video camera on our controller station for about 4-6 matches at Championships! It was great to go back and watch them with friends for laughs and also we used it to adjust our hybrid since it gave the programmers a new view on things!
