BCR Summer Hybrid-bot Challenge

Since the championship, the mentors of Beach Cities Robotics have been hard at work scheming up our Summer Hybrid-bot Challenge! The CAD is done. The field is ready. The manuals are set. The kickoff? June 1st!

Once again, Beach Cities Robotics is hosting weekly summer workshops to prepare us and others for next year's challenges. Our students wanted a little more then just workshops though so, the mentors put our heads together and designed a game. We now invite you to take on our challenge.

The goals of the academy and challenge are to:
1. Stimulate VEX teams through a new game design with unique challenges unseen in previous competitions
2. Challenge FRC teams to design and build custom parts and gear boxes
3. Assist in a smooth transition from the VEX platform to the FTC platform

The official BCR Summer Robotics Challenge Kickoff occurs on June 1st at our first workshop. The game challenges participants to build an 18”x18”x18” (or smaller) robot using a combination of FRC and VEX motors. While the game allows two FRC globe motors, their power will be limited (fused to 2A) to make 100% VEX robots competitive. The academy promises to give students the can-do skills needed to build a competitive robot.

Looking for a game hint...

If you're interested in joining our workshops, please shoot me an email. If you're interested in joining our challenge, shoot me an email.

We unveil the game on June 1st! I hope to see you there!

Re: BCR Summer Hybrid-bot Challenge

On Sunday we revealed CAN CHAOS for the first time!

Upon completion of our first summer workshop, the students poured into the lab where myself and my fellow mentors had setup the field. Once I gave an overview of the game, I handed out the game documentation to our 3 teams to start the build season! I now present the game documentation to the rest of the robotics community!

We had a lot of fun creating the game and hope that you or your team will participate as well. If you’re not in the area, please feel free to use the game design to host your own competition! You’ll find all the documentation updates on our website as well www.bcrobotics.org.
