Kickoff Workshops......... Small Problem
Posted by Justin Stiltner at 12/21/2000 4:06 PM EST
Student on team #388, Epsilon, from Grundy High School and NASA, American Electric Power, Town of Grundy. I just finished talking to the Members of my team that are attending the kickoff and was informed that all the workshops that they tried to register for were full including Dr. Joe's Programming workshop and I was thinking that maby we could get togeher and each team tape a workshop and then make copys avalible to anyone that needed them. that way nobody will be left out of a workshop. Or record the audio and then rip it to a MP3 format and put it up for d/l? comments? p.s. Dr. Joe do you think you could find space for 1 more person in your Programming workshop? Not my call... ...but we will work on it.

Engineer on team #47, Chief Delphi, from Pontiac Central High School and Delphi Automotive Systems. In Reply to: Kickoff Workshops......... Small Problem Posted by Justin Stiltner on 12/21/2000 4:06 PM EST: The attendance at the kickoff seminar is sort of out of my control as I am officially on the schedule now. But... There are a couple more possibilities. FIRST is going to have a 'team to team' room that will allow teams to give seminars on what ever they want. Cindy Abrams was going to coordinate this schedule (Although I have not seen this on there wehsite so maybe it has fallen through ... but assuming it has not...). Mike Ciavaglia will be giving his Motor Selection Seminar from 1-3. I may be able to sneak a repeat performance in after his presentation. The second possibility is that after the Delphi Rookie Workshop we are giving on Sat. (2-4), Mike and I are thinking of doing simultaneous condensed versions of our presentations. It is far from a done deal. I don't even know if FIRST will allow us to stay in the room beyond 4. But we will give it a shot. Hope that something can be worked out. Joe J. |

Posted by Joe Johnson on 12/22/2000 3:28 PM EST: As Justin said, it would be great if your workshops were video (or at least audio) taped. This would allow all of us to see what you presented even if we did not go to the kickoff. Besides it is much easier to look back at the video than to attempt to take perfect notes of everything that is said. Raul |

Raul, If we could get sombody from each workshop to agree to tape their workshop maby we could get a type of video network going. but whatever is done it will have to be fast. Everybody, If we could get some volenteers I may be able to coridnate the web and post a listing of what team is going to what workshop and their e-mail so they can be contacted to get the tape. I realise that at first the requests will be in great number for 1 team but if the original team makes 2 copies and the teams that get the 2 copies make 2 each e-body should be able to get the tape they need. This would reduce the load on each individual team but it would also increase the time between kickoff and the time the team gets the tape. Or maby we could have the tapes put together and have several workshops on 1 tape. Anybody have any other ideas?? Justin Stiltner Team #388 Epsilon Grundy Va, |
