that little male-male connector that is included would sure come in handy for using a vex controller/signal splitter with other stuff!

I know they function fine regardless of what they are called ( ), but aren't those just breakaway headers?

In any case, it's a creative use of them.

No, they're not breakaway headers, because the pins are long on both sides, not just one. Normal headers have short pins on the side that goes thru the board.

Just take break away headers and push the plastic part so the pins on both sides are equal. I have been doing it for 3 years now without a problem.
