Re: WALL•E

What an absolutely charming and clever movie that shows just how great Pixar are at storytelling. There was so much being said with so little being said.
A true masterpiece!

How about a $4 before noon ticket?

I totally loved this movie (especially over Wanted which I was dragged to). It was kinda heart wrenching to me, I think I cried a little I want to see it again but I'll probably wait until it is out on DVD so I can watch it over and over .

Re: WALL•E

This movie was amazing!

I just got back from seeing it. It falls under the category of "Painfully Adorable". Wall-E is so adorable, it hurts.

It's definately at the top of my list of favorite Pixar movies. I already want to see it again right now. xD

Re: WALL•E

Saw it again with my Wife, today. The first time was with my team. No comment on how much flak i got because she was working while i was watching a movie... Anyway, very enjoyable the second time around.

Re: WALL•E

heh...I saw it Friday morning ($4.50 showing) and again Friday night with the kids, on one of their gift certificates. Neat movie, second time it's even better....

And that's definitely a unicycle....gotta look quick to see it just after wall.e falls down after getting plastered to the ceiling of his home.

Loved it! Especially enjoyed the little nods to Apple in this one. Anyone find the Pizza Planet truck or the other things Pixar always sneaks into their films? (John Ratzenberger doesn't count)

Yeah. My suspicions about EVE were correct .

EVE scans the Pizza Planet truck (in a pile of trash) shortly after arriving to earth.

No sign of Dinico.

Someone needs to claim their team is sponsored by B&L. How funny would that be? Put, like, Buy n' Large stickers all over the robot lol

Found the truck, also notice that the mosaic turtles resemble the turtles pattern from Finding Nemo.

The movie was really good, I saw it on a DLP screen that made it even better, I would recommend seeing it on one of those.

Re: WALL•E

I saw it for FREE . Phoenix Theatres hosted a robot parade in both Monroe and Farmington Hills for local teams. We showed off our robots to the media and a local tv station and one team (862 I think, sorry if I'm wrong) converted their VEX robot to a copy of Wall-E and it looked pretty convincing.

Thanks to the theatres for supporting FIRST and of course for a free movie. It was a great time and worth the 45 minute drive (so not quite free with $4+ per gallon)

I need to go back and look at the motions more closely, but I believe that I counted at least 42 discrete controlled degrees of freedom in the design, not including the passive motions (and if that number proves to be correct, I am tempted to think that it probably is not an accident; perhaps a nod to Douglas Adams?).

I bet at least one FIRST team will make a fully functiong Wall E for a demo bot that'll knock people's socks off.
What would impress me is if anyone can make a good EVE replica (san dangerous laser cannon. Though she would make an interesting Battlebot). The flying would be cool enough but how would you pull off the free floating head?

Re: WALL•E

It is still sinking in... but I think that this is my favorite animated movie ever.

My 3 girls and I saw it Saturday night. They didn't know they were going to see it until Mary dropped us off in front of the movie.

Simply put, it is an outstanding moving on many levels. However, it is better when you can take a kid (or 3) and watch it along with them. Do yourself (and others) a favor by taking a child with you to see it.

As a parent, one of the most rewarding things we get to do is watch our kids discover the world and become inspired. This movie allows that opportunity.

wow.

We've already decided that we're going to use the wall.e approach to building robots from now on...lots of joints, no actuators

Re: WALL•E

WALL•E was AMAZING! OMG!
I had to go see it twice. So far I've spent 27 bucks on the WALL•E franchise by taking my brother & sister to a matinee, & then going with a bunch of friends later the same night, and I'm sure I'll spend plenty more when the movie comes out to DVD, & on some cool toys from the movie as well if I find any. lol

Couple of things I picked up I haven't seen mentioned yet:
Apple start-up sounds from WALL•E.
iPod Video (in his room the first time he pops in Hello Dolly)

Sometimes WALL•E kinda looked like E.T. in the shadows & when he was on the shuttle on his was to the Axiom, I heard a hint of what sounded like the E.T. theme.
Don't know if that was intentional, but thought it was kinda cool none-the-less.

I missed the Pizza Planet truck.
I noticed the turtles as well at the end though, but didn't get the Nemo connection. I guess. ::shrugs:

Also, I'm curious as to what the Theme Park folks were doing in the credits.
WALL•E the ride some day?
That would be cool.

And, last but certainly not least, dare I say this movie is Pixar's first Romantic Comedy?

Also, the cartoon at the beginning was great! Alec Azam! LOL Loved that little rabbit!

Magnets. Kinda like the free floating pens. It COULD work if you did it right.
