I dunno about Dewalts, but they're a whole flock of "other drill transmissions" on this site. (Solidmodels>Motors)

thanks for the site another question does anyone know the specs on the dewalt transmission with the motor on it in terms of torque speed at make efficiency. Also would you recommend which banebot gearbox are drive train worthy and if i should be using them because I have no experience with them and would like some info to go on

Re: where to find CAD models of Dewalt gearbox?

I would like to say either use the andymark am products or the dewalt on the drive, or a custom built if you have the machining abilities. To use all the small motors i recommend a gearbox from banebots:

Re: where to find CAD models of Dewalt gearbox?

In general, the dewalts really only work well when used exatly like in the NBD whitepaper. If you read the whitepaper you will find much of the data and specs you are asking for.

Re: where to find CAD models of Dewalt gearbox?

well I'm not going to be using them on a frc bot there actually for Skills Canada and I just want to get to know which are good motors for a bot about 50lbs wanting to go say 8f/s. But I want to keep the weight low by using smaller motors for the base and not cims.

You should have said so sooner!

They're are lots of cheap drill motors that would work great for this project and would require less modification than the NBDs.

Harbor Freight makes a cheap 18v drill that many battlebots builders have modified for drives over the years. They're very durable and only cost around $24.

The RobotMarketPlace also stocks a large selection of quality drills. They've got trannys and drills for 12v, 14.4v, 18v, and 24v. All at reasonable prices.

If you're looking for ultra high quality (and don't mind spending the money) the best drill motors and mods can be purchased from TeamDelta.

Depending on how intense "Skills Canada" is, BaneBots might be good enough. They really are cheap. But don't expect them to survive high current or a lot of shock.

Re: where to find CAD models of Dewalt gearbox?

The CAD model of the Dewalt transmissions from team 1742 are still available on their website, though they aren't obvious to find. The download page can be found at http://team1742.com/2006%20Season/download.htm

Sorry for the inconvenience on finding them, I'll see if I can get our website admin to put a link to them on the front page so they're easy to find.
