Re: 2008 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)

Congratulations 987, 330 and 67 for a great run, and for a great alliance!

My fav. were 1625,1126 and 1024, who were amazing and deserve every bit of respect too!

Re: 2008 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)

wow, the finalists at IRI were amazing as anything. Knocking off the top seed from their tier is something to behold. (And that's with non serpentine selection)
It was awesome to watch and by far 2 of the closest matches I've seen this year. Way to go 1625, 1024, and 1126!
Obvious congrats to the winning alliance.

Re: 2008 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)

Congrats to all the teams. 1024, 1126, and 1625 played great...has any ever beaten 1114 and 2056 when they're allied before today?

Congrats to the champs 330, 987 and 67. Great team effort.

And also congrats to 16, I am extremely impressed with you guys (not that I wasn't before IRI). Being undefeated in quals at such an incredibly stacked competition is a huge accomplishment.

Re: 2008 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)

For TBA errors, please send me a PM with the match #, team#'s (red-blue order), and score (red-blue). There were multiple people at times throughout day filling in to keep things to an almost instant update, things happen, people are human. I will update it as soon as I get the info from above, corrections have been made to the ones previously listed in this thread except for match 71, due to lack of info at this time. Your help is greatly appreciated, sorry for the screw up.

Score for match 71 needed.

987 would like to thank 67 330 & 68 for being great alliance partners. We loved playing with the beach bots and the hot bot, and having the IRI title represented with the WEST coast.

Ditto to these congratulations and of course a sincere congratulations to the Finalists and the incredible matches played by them and the rest of the elemination teams...can't remember a tougher set of final matches! So many impressive teams and awesome midwestern hospitality...we had a blast even when we had some problems the other day and hope to return next year! Thanks to the host teams and the community as a whole for an awesomely run event...and props to all those teams out there who play defensively (iwe have a new found respect for the role, especially when you are an offensively focused team every year).

Actually, you missed San Diego. Finalist alliance was 330 and 987 and another team.

Just wish I'd seen the eliminations; I had to work. How fast can TBA get them up?

Re: 2008 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)

Congrats also to 111 Wildstang - The source of our new High Scoring, 5th Gear, Overdrive simulation Alliance!

The alliance of Wildstang team members Eric E., John (Josh?) K., and Chris M. blew away the previous record; and earned the right to deposit $40 of mentor money into the Pig Kissin' bucket of Mr Paul Copioli.

With a 5th Gear virtual Overdrive score of 234 , they are now our reigning 2008, IRI, 5th Gear, World Champions.

1114 was blocked (not intentionally it seemed) in both hybrids, so they did not have thier usualy advantage heading into teleoperated mode.
What can you say, it's IRI! The perfect storm of gremlins felled the giant! For our alliance it went something like this...

Quarterfinal 1 - 2056 gets tipped early by a trackball in possession of a blue alliance bot and the bomb squad snaps thier left leg... We still win due to Simbotics contribution!

Quarterfinal 2 - We are called up to play for 16, no significant mishaps - we win

Semifinal 1 - Bomb Squad back in action, but 1114 loses thier radio about 3 sec into hybrid, The Bomb Squad and 2056 make a valiant attempt but are unable to stop the Kilobyte led blue alliance...

Semifinal 2 - 2056 never moves - loose battery lug turns up to the the culprit, great performance by both sides with over 200 points scored and a margin of victory of less than 10 - with no penalties, even with the blue alliance power play. Great match!

On behalf of 1038, I would like to thank the Bomb Squad, Simbotics, and 2056 for allowing us the opportunity to play in the IRI eliminations - very cool for our kids. Until next year....

Re: 2008 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)

Congratulations to 67, 330, 987 and 68. On behalf of all of the Martians, I would like to thank 368, 968, 111 and 2171, 33, 910 you guys were two great alliances, thanks for picking us and playing with us. IRI was a blast as usual, giving some amazing memories such as

-Seeing Oscar the Grouch come out of his garbage can for the first time
-Simbotics being eliminated
-Jim Zondag trying to sing metal
-My favorite match of OVERDRIVE aka Semi Final 2.2 aka the coolest defensive match I have ever seen and RUSH launching an opposing ball that was dropped on their robot out of the field
-A ice cream sundae known only as Cookie Monster

A great job by the IRI committee for once again putting on an amazing competition. You guys not only bring in the best teams, you create a fun and exciting atmosphere that cannot be topped.
