tell us your ideas your not going to do

Other on team #25, nbths robotics team , from nbths and bms.

What ideas did you guys come up with and are not going to do? yesterday our team was going over some ideas and one we came up with that we are not going to use is to make our robot into a bridge so others can use us to get over to the other side of the playing feild. I was just wondering in what directing everyone else was thinking in.

In the spirit of telling folks what we are definitely
NOT going to do, I can say this ;-)

We are NOT going to go to the other side of the field
and collect balls in order to feed them through the
shoot to our human player.

While all this cooperation stuff is good, it has not
gone too far to our heads ;-)

Believe me, Chief Delphi is busy trying to figure out
how to make it most likely that he and 4 of his closest
buddies will stomp all over your pathetically low
score! I hope that many other teams are thinking the
same way. In fact, I would be disappointed to discover
otherwise.

While we may have to cooperate to in order to score big
in this years competition, I am sure that the flame
competition burns bright deep in the hearts of many a
long time FIRST veteran.

Bring it on!

Joe J.

I'm with Joe on this one.

While we share some stuff (drill motor mount designs, etc.), we aren't saying anything about what we are doing thus far. We'll start showing pictures and marketing our strategy around ship time.

As for what we are not doing:

1. We're not going to let a match go the full 2 minutes... ever.

2. We won't depend on the stretcher.

3. We won't feed black or big balls to the HP.

4. We won't use the same gear-switching design that I've posted in the white papers section.

5. We won't violate rule M16.

Andy B.

Letting the FIRST clock run out is basically an instant 33% penalty on the points that the alliance had just one short second before.

I think that Dean and Woodie sort of decided that
alliances that were in so much discord that they could
not even agree to hit 4 switches before the ticker runs
down deserved a special deduction all their own.

Even so, I expect that every tourney will see 2 or 3
such matches.

Time will tell...

I would say there will be more than 2 or 3 such matches going to happen, especially at Nationals. At regionals, most of the teams know other teams enough to really get organized. But at national, you will be with 84 other team across the country in your division randomly, and with the short time of the game as well as lack of time out, it will be hard for teams to cooperate well in the qualifing matches. Be prepare to see lot of choas there...!
