I changed my mind
Posted by Jason Iannuzzi at 1/12/2001 4:10 PM EST
Engineer on team #11, Marauders, from Mt. Olive HS. and BASF, Rame Hart, CCM. In Reply to: What is Dean's "IT"? Posted by Frank on 1/9/2001 10:38 PM EST: Originally, when this news first started spreading, I saw the patent application and figured it was a done deal. I thought it might be the Stirling, but the IBOT Vehicle seemed a simpler way out. One quote changed my mind: Kamen fears, as he states in a letter to Kemper that is included in the proposal, that “huge corporations” might catch wind of the invention and “use their massive resources to erect obstacles against us or, worse, simply appropriate the technology by assigning hundreds of engineers to catch up to us, and thousands of employees to produce it in their plants.” I doubt anyone would fear a motorized scooter, regardless of how cool it was. The Stirling Engine 2002 would turn the entire automotive industry on its head, and it's certainly an industry that might be able to scare DK into secrecy. It has to be the Stirling. That's my official answer. |
