Re: Wireless Electricity

100 years ago, Tesla showed many ways to wirelessly send power through coupled resonant systems (ie.. tesla coils and magnifiers). The problem was always the inefficiencies involved. Space is very large, so to send large amounts/intensities of electromagnetic radiation to be used miles away is just ridiculous.

However, last summer I heard about an MIT group researching wireless power transmission for low current appliances such as cell phones and such. The distances involved would be feet or yards and currents in the order of 10-100mA. Now that will be an idea coming sooner than later. Here's that article...

I must agree with "rtfgnow', large amounts of power to run computers and monitors will be a long way off, or just not practical. That is until those systems can run off of less than an amp?
