3D Playing Field Available

Posted by Ed Sparks at 1/12/2001 10:41 AM EST

Coach on team #34, Bob Jones High School / DaimlerChrysler, from Bob Jones High School.

I posted a reference to my 3D version of the 2001 Playing Field last night but due to the forum problem, it was lost. It's at my SharingFist page at the link below if you want it (.dwg and .3ds).

Enjoy !

P.S. I noticed that the "LOST" postings can still be seen in the chronological archive.

yes.
the only thing that was actually 'lost' was the
link on the general forum.

the message is still there.
it just got archived a bit too soon

I have a question about those 3d drawings... how accurate are those drawing compare to the blue print? I open the stretcher file and check its dimension, and turn out the ply wood of the strecher have a dimension of 1'-11 1/2" by 1'-8 1/8". What's going on here? are all the drawings scaled down?

I downloaded the same file from my site and opened it. Everything checks out at 40.25" x 47". Note that there is a discrepency between the dimensions for S1 on the BOM vs "The Print R2" (46.5 vs 47). I choose to use the BOM. Are you using ACAD ?

Yep ! I get a kick out of drawing this stuff and besides, why have 500+ teams duplicating this manpower!! We got 'bots to build!!.

It's bugging the heck out of me as to why you had to scale this drawing. I draw everything at full scale. Why do anything else ? Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? Do you get the same result with any of the other drawings? Please help, I don't want to go "NUTS" at the start of week #2.
