Re: Optimizing Air Cannon Range
Its a shame your trying to launch T-Shirts. To increase the range in my cannon I just use water.
I propelled an aluminum baseball bat over 300 yards with 135 PSI and about .5 gallons of water. |

a little Info about that Rain Bird sprinkler valve, it does RECOMMEND a 24VAC power supply. the transformer is pretty simple design on the inside, first get a 12VDC to 110VAC adapter, like the one you plug into a car's lighter port, a project box, probably available @ Radio Shack, some 16 gauge wire, NOTE: i would recommend two DIFFERENT colors for the positive and black as both the negatives, just remember which negative went where. and a 110VAC to 24VAC adapter, FYI: it NEEDS to have at least 16 gauge wire. Now if you don't want to take the car adapter apart, then goto an auto store and get a 12VDC accessory port. attach the 12VDC accessory port to a SPIKE, plug the 24VAC adapter into the 12VDC to 110VAC adapter, plug this into the accessory port connected to the SPIKE, then the Rain Bird valve to the transformer you just made and wallah!!!!, you have hopefully just made your valve work at its best.
If anyone has extra ?'s send me a message anytime you feel the need. |

Re: Optimizing Air Cannon Range
i know this thread is about t-shirt cannons, but what else have you tried firing? 1-2 years ago me and a few friends on the team discovered that pencils make great projectiles when stuffed into pvc pipe. were able to get them to fly at least 100ft. although this is always fun, its bit dangerous, and we tend to do it when we should be working on the robot.
