If you can, what type of drivetrains are most teams having? Tank Tread, Four Wheel Drive, Two Wheel Drive, or a drive that allows you to fly. You get the point.

Hey everyone,

Do you REALLY want to know what kind of drivetrain we (ChiefDelphi) has???? Well, I will tell you. We have come up with something that you just won't believe. Something that everyone will want on there robot. Our robots drivetrain will allow our robot to get around the field. Did you really think I was going to tell you with only a week into the build;-). My lips are sealed until I hear other wise, sorry.

I believe that Delphi will use a swerve drive, but whos to say it won't use tank treads in place of the wheels? If there is a team out there that could do it, Chief Delphi would be at the top of my list.

I think Joe gave it away by saying try six wheel drive and you will love it. I could be wrong but it sounds like Joe has worked this idea through his head very well. I guess we will find out at the first regional!

Joe seems to think all of his posts through very well. I don't know if it is prudent to make such an assumption on only that. Only problem is, I'm thinking the same thing.

Everyone at WPI will disown my for saying this, but you gotta go with the four wheel tank design. I'm sorry, but it's simple and reliable. Of course everyone will tell me stuff about inefficiency and skidding, but, that's just my opinion.

4WD is by far my fav...easiest to control, great traction on the floor, turning is fast and tight. I personally HATE tank/track systems....but sometimes you need them....

tank treads can be made to work just as good as wheels or even better.

it's an engineering problem that can be solved by thinking...

i think joe gave it away somewhere down there....

but nevertheless, treads are kick butt if it's done right.
