I've wondered about this for a long time. It is easy to understand that many high school students get fired up with the capabilities/possibilities of technology and what can be achieved and they think of fun applications in many areas. As college looms and decisions are made regarding majors- there are more opportunities and experiences available to see/learn/understand that technology can be developed and applied in so many areas that can help our quality of life as individuals and communities, and also, as a global community.
This is a wonderful challenge. I look forward to hearing more about it and about some of the entries.
