Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

Of course, my favorite hybrid is my Ford Escape ...

But seriously, my favority hybrid was probably the one (who's number I can't remember... I think it starts with 17xx 1731... thanks for the reminder sparx!) that had four large spotlights used as the remote.

...actually, I'm not sure if it's the robot's performance I liked so much, or if it was how the person who was the robo coach would just go nuts with em and have an impromptu dance party now n then...

and who could forget 1024?

Purely beasts on the field. Beautifully executed hybrid this year definitely earned them that RAIC Award in Atl.

Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

910 in 2007 was simply outstanding. 2 keepers was something that only they did and it showed true determination and will of their programmers to get it working.

Other enjoyable hybrids: 111 in 2006. That shooter was untouchable. 71 in 2001 was incredible (though it wasn't autonomous, it could have been). 1114 and 1024 were both crazy this year and one of my favorite autnomous periods was the 6 keeper hybrid at IRI in 2007. (330, 2056, 111, 1114, 968, and 910.)

IRI 2007 elims, QF2-1. Only problem is, TBA seems to not have it anymore and SOAP seems to be down, at least temporarily.

Thanks for the kudos on our Speed Racer. For those that might not have seen the videos yet, our best teleop round (13 teleop laps) also included 7 lines in auto -- just missed the 8th line due to a collision with one of our alliance partners. I have video of the 2003 Baxter automode from the championship that year somewhere. The speed and accuracy up the ramp was nuts. I'll see if I can find the file.

Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

1075 in 2003 had a wicked fast auto too.. our design was able to turn at full speed (it was like a tricycle but the front was a steerable belt)... We climbed the ramp and expanded to knock down the vast majority of the wall very quickly. I can remember there was one robot at the Canadian Regional in 2003 that shot an arm up and swung it around to hit the wall, and we got our whole robot to the wall before their arm could get there.

Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

Rather that site 1 specific team, I really liked Triple Plays variety. It had from the simple knock down a tetra to autos like ours that knocked 1, and then stacked, to the difficult task of trying to cap the vision Tetras.

I know it isn't everyone's favorite, but that is still my favorite Automode season, and favorite game for variety of machines.

I can still feel the anticipation of watching 66 come so close to capping almost every auto mode.

Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

While the 2003 game lacked in many areas, it didn't lack in auto mode. To see robots trying to beat each other up the ramp was always thrilling and it was simple enough for many teams to attempt it. 111 and their StangPS simply dominated that year. 980 was by far the most creative with their unpowered telescoping arm.

I thought 2008 was similar to 2003 in that many robots could do something in hybrid mode, which makes it fun to watch. But 2004-2007 seemed to be not as thrilling auto modes unless you were at a competition with some great programming teams. Most inexperienced teams had very basic or non-existant auto modes. And the green light/camera idea only seemed to get mastered and/or utilized by a handful of teams at each competition.
