Texas Teams Affected by Hurricane Ike

This is a duplicate of the official FIRST email

The Regional site has also implemented a Hurricane Ike page for all teams in Houston to update their status.

Greetings FRC Texas Teams,

We hope all of you are doing well, getting ready for the 2009 season and are looking forward to another exciting year.

The Texas gulf coast has been adversely affected by hurricane Ike and many schools in south-east Texas are just returning to a regular schedule this week. Many of you may not have power or internet service. The FIRST community is concerned about you and the impact the hurricane might have on your participation in FIRST for 2009.

We ask that you please do the following ASAP:

1. Confirm if you will be participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) in 2009. (email: Lucia Sevcik)

2. Let us know if you need funding or mentor support. Houston, contact ( Lucia Sevcik). Teams located in/near the Dallas area can contact Lindsey Weldon

3. Check to see if you are eligible to apply for a NASA grant. The NASA grant application process opened on 9/19/08 and ends on 10/20/08. The application can be found on the FIRST website at http://www.usfirst.org/community/frc...t.aspx?id=7358.

4. If your school does not have power or internet, let us know if you need assistance with FRC registration. Registration for your team's initial regional event opens 10/2/08 and for your second regional event opens 10/23/08.

Go Teams!
