Engineer on team #111, Wildstang, from Rolling Meadows & Wheeling HS and Motorola. In Reply to: My understanding of CW and CCW... Posted by Joe Johnson on 1/18/2001 9:54 PM EST: Joe, you are the only one that calls me the magnificant one. I think you are the one that is the recognized "master" and mganificant one for all the great work you have done to get us some great components in the kit, not to mention your mentoring contributions to the FIRST community - I bow to thee! Thanks and don't worry Joe, I always try design with the proper amount of margin when it comes to the output power of the motors. I just ask because I am kind of picky about designing for the peak power and wanted to know precisely where that point is in each direction. I know almost as much as you that optimizing speed and power is what can give your robot that little edge that it needs to last through many matches without failing. Raul : As to why you care, this must be because you are tring : to get every last N-m of torque out of those motors and : had some freedom to design the motors to run one way of : the other. : If that is the case, I have some concerns about your : design, but Raul isn't called "the Magnificent" for : nothing. I will defer to the master. : Joe J. : P.S. I think that the info FIRST has published is out : of date on those van door motors in any case FYI -- as : I recall, they just re-ran the data from last year. : This is unfortunate because, after a lot of effort, : Robert Bosch has been convinced to donate the motors so : that Delphi did not have to buy them for FIRST from its : other power sliding door motor supplier, Taigene. In : any case, the specs on the Bosch and the Taigene motors : are similar but not identical. I will see what I can : do to find the print on that motor so that I can put : the better numbers up on this site. JJ |
