Top seeds pick....

I have an idea, how about if the top 8 winners are teamed up with the next 8 winners and then the bottom 8 are allianced. Then from a drum 8 are picked at random and then the top seeds pick their fifth choice from whats left.
This would give a wide variety of teams a chance to be in the finals that under normal circumstances would not have a chance. also every team would be in the arena waching the nominations instead of packing up their machines and going home, as some do.
Your thoughts on this please.

Until I saw this year's game I would have given your
proposal no chance of being implemented but, now I am
not so sure.

Seriously though, I don't like it. What if a team was
near the bottom, but not near enough, would they be
justified in trying to get an even lower score so that
they could get in the elimination rounds?

This isn't Kansas any more toto!

Joe J.

Well, thats like what we were talking about before with the auto-alliance, right?

But hey, the Nonnebots werent doing that great at UTC last year, and had their robot half packed when the #1 seed chose them as their third alliance. Anything is possible

According to the latest update, if I don't show up I get zero points. If your idea is implemented, I can save two nights of hotel rooms and be in the finals. Hmmmmm.

I laughed so hard I almost cried. What an excellent strategy to get into the finals!!! NOT SHOW UP! For some reason it just struck me as really funny.

This method sounds pretty nice when it allow the bottom 8 seeds to participate. But as the other two person said, this kind of attract people to do as bad as possible, and in effect those teams will bring down the scores of other teams. Even if FIRST really use this method, at the finals, it is most likely that those bottom 8 seeds will be the "spare" alliance in every match of the finals, well, because the other teams want to do as good as possible. And also, all the practice those bottom 8 seeds were about being the worst. So those robot are going to just be there because they have to, and win the competition without much hard work. I don't really think this is OK.

After all, this is still a competition because FIRST wants every teams out there try their best to be successful. People who work really hard to be a better self should be able to do so and earn their reward in this competition.

I can't think of a way to do it right now but what if every made the finals and we just cut down on the seeding rounds
