Some website problems

ok I just started running our team website and I have discovered a few problems.

Our old one got deleted or something. We still own the URL fmj393.com, but there is no longer a website there. Can someone please help me try and figure out why this is or how we can get our new website up. We are currently working on it, but I can get something halfway decent up within a few hours.

Thanks in advance,

Lilszamora

Do you know who your host is? you may have gotten deleted from no activity or inappropriate information. There may just be some bad coding that the server isn't reading the index files properly.

That's hosted by 1&1 (1and1.com). Unless you have the account info, that's not gonna be of much help, though. Do you have contact to any team alumni that might know who owns the account?

we had a mentor who ran the old team website, but he moved to India, I shot him a e-mail a week ago asking for help but no reply back yet, I guess all I'll be able to do is just wait.

Shoot 1 & 1 an email and see if there is something they can do.

Re: Some website problems

No, 1and1 won't give you the account, no matter what you tell them. After all, it is the original owner's account...

Re: Some website problems

How long ago did you buy the domain, and for what length of time?

Maybe ride it out until it expires, unless they're letting it renew every period.

Re: Some website problems

The domain is still active and you can ping it. It appears that the defauld directory is empty . Try and contact the old webmaster and if there is an automated password reset protocol try that. You may get lucky.

Re: Some website problems

If you can't get in touch with the owner of the account, just try buying a new domain name. Try a different .** like fmj393.net or fmj393.org or change the domain name up a little, team393.com or something along those lines.

Hosting is pretty cheap now a days, 1and1 has some pretty decent plans (I just started hosting with them a month ago). I don't know if they're still doing it but Sevaa was giving free storage to anyone who was a FIRST team, you just had to pay the domain fee.

We used Sevaa with SPAM and they were great, but I see that thread (the sticky in this sub-forum) has closed and none of the links to sign up work. We were looking to use them - anyone know what's up? I just sent Randy an email to the promo@sevaa.com address to inquire.

OK, that email got kicked back as invalid; I see that Randy was on CD yesterday, so I'll drop him a note directly.
