Noise Emission Problem...

Posted by JVN at 1/23/2001 12:00 PM EST

Student on team #250, GE Dynamos - Capital District Robotics Team, from Shenendehowa High School and General Electric.

Hey Everybody,

Our team has constructed a small turbine engine for our robot. This isn't a technical question, but what decibal levels do you think would be permitted by FIRST inside the arena's?

Should we distribute earmuffs to everyone? If anyone has earplugs please bring them to Florida, it would save us some trouble!

~John #250

Noise is most likely not a problem considering the level of the music and crowd noise at a FIRST event.

The only thing I see to consider is the judges on and around the playing field during a match. All teams will be in the player stations during the match and be somewhat shielded from any 'noise'.

If you are anywhere around team 419's pit, i suggest you wear earplugs anyway. We can't work well without music, and we like it loud...

What are you building a turbine with? Muffin fans? Good Luck!
