Re: Camera

You have to cut the transformer off and connect the wires to the power distribution board at the 5v power supply.

You received 2 camera power supplies, make sure that you cut up the right one.

Re: Camera

Do not cut the one that came with the camera. The extra one that you recieve is the one to cut.

Re: Camera

One of the cables has two separate wires running side by side, the other is coaxial. Using the coaxial cable is a pain in the rear end, but otherwise completely doable.

The one that comes in the separate bag has much a much lower current output rating. At some point you may want to use the camera off of the robot. It would probably be better to use the power supply that came in the camera box for that application.
Check the part number from the link in my post above.

Re: Camera

Personally, I am opposed to breaking something that is already working.

2009 FRC Control System Manual: Section 3 – Component Datasheets, Rev 0.5

"How do I build a cable for passing 5V power to the Ethernet camera?
• Take the camera’s power adapter (PN SA106A-0512-6) and cut the wire off close to the
Wall-Wart.
o Note: There are two power adapters for the camera included in the Kit, one in the
camera box and one separate. Use the separate one (PN SA106A-0512-6) to make
this adapter.
• Separate the wires and strip 5-6mm off the ends.
• Use a small flat head screwdriver to open the WAGO 739-302.
• Insert the positive (striped) wire in the right port. Note: the correct orientation can be verified
by looking at the silk screen on the PD Module.
• Insert the negative wire in the left port.
• Give a smart tug to verify the connection is secure.
• Power the PD, and verify that the barrel connector’s center conductor is positive."

I bet if you take the power adapter to Radio Shack(Digikey, Mouser, etc.), you will find a connector that you can wire yourself.

These are the parts that we used to do this, from RadioShack:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2103612
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2102487

Look for a "DC Power Plug", sizes "H" and "K". I forget which size is which, but we used one for the camera and one for the wireless bridge.
