His post is about the 4th or 5th first time poster in the 2 hint threads in the last few hours. If I didn't know better, I'd say something was fishy

Re: Game Hint #1

Just a thought here.

ChiefDelphi can be a very intimidating place, esp. for new members who have never posted before. To post in the game hint threads could be somewhat daunting to some, to say the least. My hat is off to the new members who are thinking and who are contributing. Yes, it it good to caution folks to read the thread and do some searches but it is also good to remember when we first started posting in ChiefDelphi and the huge learning curve involved.

If I were going to carp on anything - oh wait - harp on anything - it would be to be mindful of spelling and using complete words and sentences. It isn't productive to use text lingo when posting in ChiefDelphi. For one important reason: there are many engineers, technologists, scientists, teachers, and professionals reading what we write. This would include members of the Game Design Committee (the GDC). Now is as good a time as any to begin writing like you would be writing an award submission like the Chairman's Award or the Woodie Flowers Award. Save your text lingo and impulsive posts that are empty of content - for social networking opportunities.

Jane

P.S. oh yes, and when you are scanning a thread, stop scanning - and read and comprehend/absorb the posts that have been made. That will help you decide if you want to post, how you want to post, and what you want to post. Guaranteed.

Good advice from Jane, as always.

I'm just going to add my own story, now that I've been around on Chief Delphi a bit. When I first joined CD, I had been using it as a resource for a while. I joined so that I could post my own question asking for advice about turning robotics into a class you could get school credit for, not realizing that other people had created threads long before on the subject with plenty of useful information. Some friendly people gave me advice, and also referred me to a search for what I was looking for- it was great, I got all the information I needed, and I learned about the handy search feature. However, I probably would have gotten disheartned and abandonded CD if countless people came and whined about me learning to search and reading everything on CD before I posted. It is true, but it only needed to be said once. I hope everyone, veterans and new members alike, keeps a positive attitude on Chief Delphi, even with all the frenzy that comes with game hints and the beginning of the new season. Happy FIRSTing!

Re: Game Hint #1

a lot of people have been asking about when the second clue will arrive... my guess would be that they will give one more tomorrow (since the last one was a friday, and this would be a week later...) and then a 3rd clue on either the following or 2nd friday after that. I think we have probably reached the point in the thread where nothing else will be discovered without a second clue. lets hope this one will be more helpful!!

yeah but I think we pretty much cracked it, so before not reading the hint 2 thread, actually read it, since it is short, and see if there is anything else to add is my suggestion.

Re: Game Hint #1

So has anyone mentioned that there's also an audio tracker software for Windows, that just so happens to share the name "Moonfish"?

I know it's been said, but think they would do the whole levels thing based on reading about the moonfish itself.

Maybe the whole reason they chose the moonfish was for more than one reason. Because it could stand for many things.

Just an idea.
