update #5 "adendum"

Posted by nick237 at 1/29/2001 11:41 PM EST

Engineer on team #237, sie h2o bots, from Watertown high school ct and sieman co.

On the update #5 under the adendums list this morning FIRST has changed their mind and reinstituted the alliances for this years games. They must have been bombarded with emails requesting the change back to the original way. Any way they are advising all teams that a revised game will be sent out soon but there will not be too many changes.
Dean said that there may be two ramps instead of one and that the stretcher will be removed. also there will be three goals not two. points will be scored for your color ball on top of the goal but the goal does not have to be balanced on the ramp.
More info will be available by wednesday, so it looks like the battles are back on...... yeah. hmmmmm.

I am not sure why, but I keep downloading the older version of team update 5, and it doesn't have the adendums list in it. Maybe it's my computer setting or something. Can anyone help me out?!?! I need to show my team the newer version of update 5...

Or else none of them will believe what I told them.

I have no trouble downloading the newer version. Perhaps you need more practice using your so-called computing machine.

Nick,

It's unlike you to pull our leg, so I take your statement as the truth, BUT, I see no "adendum" in Update #5. I did a reload and see no 5A or 6...

What is the URL of the document you are referencing?

Thanks...

Mike

Am I allowed to answer it?

Less mistakes than I have seen some people make in a single post ;-)

Although I have begun to grow fond of the
"kinder, gentler FIRST" I kinda long for the old days...

Is there anyone out there who can honestly say
they didn't enjoy seeing their robot drop
a competitor?

Needless to say, we have already
begun alterations...

The flamethrower prototype is being rushed
through testing. The battering-rams
are being cast as I type.

See you on the battlefield!

Well, the "addendum" might be faux (who knows? I stopped asking long ago ) but we've just lost another day of meeting.

So I'm sitting in the wood shop with a group of the mechanical team who were fiddling with a starter motor, sparks flying every so often. One of them comments jokingly: Gee, wouldn't it be ironic if (Principal's name here) walked in and thought it was something dangerous?

A few minutes later, the fire alarm sounds, and we're all outside in the pouring COLD rain, talking about what we accomplished the night before at the meeting.

20 minutes roll by, and we're corraled around the school to the auditorium, where we're told that the buses were coming and that we could return at 2 to get our stuff. This is 11AM, and I've been home ever since.

Noone really knows what happened, but our regular meeting was cancelled, with a small meeting of the mechanical team happening elsewhere. So now I'm meetingless, I dont know if I have rehearsal tonite, we were supposed to have an interview with the local paper (who knows when we can get that rescheduled), and...my stuff is still in the wood shop.

Is everyone else having as many school problems as we? How did you deal/work around it?

Ok, thanks everyone for letting me vent.
