Camera detection

I set the static IP address to 192.168.0.90 and plugged in the camera, but the setup wizard doesn't detect it. The camera's lights turn on, so it's getting power. I've tried being both connected and disconnected from the school's wireless network, and I get two different error messages. When I'm connected to the wireless network, it says "Unable to connect to camera. Ensure the camera is connected to the PC and IP settings are correct." Otherwise, it says something about entering "FRC" as a username and password. Any ideas?

Where did you set the static address? The FRC Programming Guide says to set the PC address to 192.168.0.90. That is the same address as the camera. Set the PC to another address such as 192.168.0.6 as suggested in the Control System Manual. Also, I had to disable the firewall for the camera setup program to run correctly.

Are you using a cross over cable to connect to the camera?

Re: Camera detection

I tried everything except turning off the proxy... any ideas on how to do that in Vista?
I even managed to discover yet another error message:

"Unable to complete operation because of unexpected error %d:
%s63 TCP Open Connection in Axis Issue HTTP Request with Authentication.vi->Axis Issue Get.vi->Axis Create FRC User.vi->Dialog.vi"

which makes me wonder if I'm missing a file somewhere. Is anyone else having such a difficult time with this camera?

Re: Camera detection

Make sure you dont set your PCs IP address to 192.168.0.90. That's a misprint in the manual. Set it to something like 192.168.0.20 and it'll work just fine.

Re: Camera detection

Yet another error message:
"Unable to log into the camera. Manually create a user with username "FRC" and password "FRC", or restore the camera to the factory settings and run this program again."

Re: Camera detection

To turn off the proxy you go to internet options and then you go to LAN settings. You can turn off proxy from there. How are you trying to connect to the camera? We used the camera management tool to locate the camera, then we browsed 192.168.0.90 (making sure that our computer static ip wasn't set to the same address). Once you get to a screen that shows you how to configure the camera you just go to the user page. After saving you go to the camera video icon. You go to camera settings, add camera, search camera. Once you do that you should be recieving images from the camera. I hope this helps you guys out in solving your problem.
P.S. It took us 2 days to figure that camera configuration out so you aren't the only ones who had trouble with it.

Re: Camera detection

Did you follow the steps in section 5.5 (page 9) in the FRC Control System Configuration document about changing the username and password on the camera?

Re: Camera detection

We did the same thing, just connect to the camera directly with laptop and setup a new user: FRC and password: FRC
