About how long is the time between game hints?

Nobody knows. There may be another one or there may not.

The one thing we do know is the latest the next hint will come is the morning of January 3rd.

Back in my day, we only got one game hint. No pictures or anything, either--just a snippet of lyrics from Stairway to Heaven with some cryptic equation tacked on. And we built our robots with window motors after walking to the school uphill in the snow with barbed wire wrapped around our feet. And we liked it, too! (All but the barbed wire part is true, actually--our team used window motor drive, had sleet the night before ship, and received only one hint in 2004.)

While part of me hunts down my stick and tells the young whippersnappers* to get off my lawn, the other part makes me remind said whippersnappers that the game hint and a dollar buys you a cup of coffee. Bone up on your area of choice--programming, wiring, marketing, take your pick--but don't pay too much attention to the hints. They only make your head hurt--first by causing a headache, then by you slapping your forehead when the hint is explained.

*Folks who've done FRC for ten or fifteen years, fear not; this particular whippersnapper will be getting off your lawn soon enough.

the scary thing is, this applies to me...this year is the 11th anniversary of my first year competing
