Go to Post I was dragged to the first team meeting in September my freshman year and a week later, found myself at Fall Classic. Needless to say, after experiencing the heat of a competition, I was in love. ... Robotics has become far more than just that. I get to do the coolest thing in the world. - Audrey Chu [more]

Anyone ready for the first B-school robot team?

Hey everyone, I got into Babson ::grin::

Sorry, had to tell the world all at once, and this was the quickest route.

Sooo, in a couple years you might see the first robot team mentored/sponsored by a college with NO engineering courses given whatsoever, but is #1 in the nation for Entrepreneurship...and isn't that what we all are, entrepreneurs?

How's that for a contrast?

Even if I've never heard of the school before, CONGRATULATIONS! :-D Ok, I'm done now. And I thought it was hard finding interest at a school WITH an engineering program.....

Congratulation!!! It¡¦s really good to see another FIRST-a-holic head to another stage in life. I bet you are really happy about it¡K

I still remember last year when I got accepted into UC Berkeley, I was ¡§more than happy¡¨ when that happened. I was practically jumping up and down at the California regional after I heard it from my parents.

And the rest of the year was just amazing¡K it feels really good when your future is prepared for you. I went to Florida without having to think about any schoolwork or worrying about college. Hope you have a great year!

I offten joke with people when I have a good idea for a robot "Hey the CIS major from RWU does know something after all."

well.. i know me and jon aren't engineers.. but we still do FIRST... cause even at techie schools you can do "non-engineering" things...

FIRST is for everyone.. isn't that what all the other awards are about too (Chairman's, Animation, etc..)..

robots are made of parts.. teams made of allllot of different people.. it's what makes 'em good..

'cept when it's EE's running the mechanical stuff :-P (haha deej)

Why does this whole thing remind me of the quote (drat, forgot yet again who said it) that was to the affect that in meetings with MEs and EEs, an EE will suggest something that breaks the laws of physics.....

Matt who just realized that not only is he a CE which is quite close to EE but also that he is designing quite a lot of his teams robot.....

Congratulations!

The thing I like about FIRST is that it simulates a real engineering concern so well. Especially including the need for marketing and budgeting. Two essential functions engineers are not typically very good at.

If anyone can sell them on FIRST I'm sure it will be you!
