Re: Game Hint #2
Ok Im on to something.
On Colorado Ave in Paramount, CA there is a machine shop called ZAMBONIS. Im not sure, but maybe the game is styled after hockey. I mean think the person said lake minnetonka is big for ice fishing...the fish clue was meant to be a "red herring" to make us think of a water game, but maybe the fish is an OPA (sp) which is a fish that can get up to 200 pounds (the electrical system is REALLY heavy so the weight req. could go up) and six feet in length, but fish in markets are usually hung by their mouths so the height req. could go up to 6 feet again... 6 teams per alliance: 1 Goalie 2 or 3 defence 2 or 3 offence Just a thought... |

Re: Game Hint #2
I would like to revise my ice statement, while a slick surface could act as a buffer zone making it difficult to travel over it could be near impossible, calling for the other robots in your alliance to carry or build a bridge across said obsticle.
I think that is more in the sprit of first, you know having to support team mates, also incorporating a bridge into your robot... |

Re: Game Hint #2
Not a bad theory except then you would need a robot that essentially could do nothing but be a bridge and the spirit of first is that any alliance no matter what robots are on it need to be capable of scoring.

It was fully capable of scoring--balancing goals on the bridge was a very good way to score that year. But it was "only" a ramp. |

Re: Game Hint #2
Most of the people here bring up some good points, though I do have a few concerns with some of them.
1) As for the weight and size limits I do believe that there are certain labour laws that require more the two people to life an object if it more the 150 Lbs, so they may have to take that into account when planning on robot design. 2) As for an ice surface, it would be very hard to do because of the cooling requirements. Even just a slick surface would be difficult as they would have to take into account the safety of the team members trying to place/retrieve their robot on/from the field as well as the field assembly and reset crew and the hazard of lose of control of some robots. Those were just some of my thoughts. Last edited by 2056Durfey : 17-12-2008 at 21:01. |

Re: Game Hint #2
maby its a scavenger hunt to where we have to program our robot on a hybrid system to pick up a flag or object and return it to the starting point

Evergreen in Dover, UK is along Slip Lane. I think ice is probably going to be part of the game.

Re: Game Hint #2
With the new Control System,
We were thinking it could be color sensored with the fish like in the picture with picking up fish because in Minnetonka is a fishing area just like the other clue I don't know for sure but its probably an experiment with all the new coding XD however the new system weighs a ton! |

Re: Game Hint #2
What if we need to "fish" an item off of the field and then put it into some sort of holder on our alliance's side of the field?
