Re: New Rio Issues, refuses team number and programming
If you have never set the IP address of the controller before, it is automatically set with a team number of 0. So the IP address should default to 10.0.0.2.
Because of this you need to make sure your computer has a static IP address of 10.0.0.6 and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. If you don't have your computers IP set correctly it won't be able to re-Image the cRIO. If you follow the directions on page 5 of the Control System Configuration manual (http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles...ation-0-5c.pdf) for updating cRIO firmware, it should work. |

Re: New Rio Issues, refuses team number and programming
Do I assign the IP address and subnet mask like this?
http://img514.imageshack.us/my.php?image=crionj1.jpg Also, are you sure the subnet mask is 255.0.0.0? Because in the labview tutorial video FIRST Robotics Competition: Joystick Motor Control in 10 Minutes the guy enters the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (link to the tutorial video http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7977 ) |

Re: New Rio Issues, refuses team number and programming
Yes that is how you set it, although I would leave the DNS on automatic. Make sure you are setting the IP on the correct network adapter, ie make sure you set it IP for the wired network card on the computer, if the computer has WIFI.
I got the 255.0.0.0 from the manual, and it worked for our team. I can't say that 255.255.255.0 wouldn't work as I have not tried it, but we went by the configuration manual and it worked. Another thing that I've seen mentioned on the FIRST forums if you are using a computer with more than one network connection, is to disable the all of the network cards except the wired one that is connected to the cRIO. Because during the upgrade process the IP is sometimes set to 0.0.0.0 and this can mess things up if you are connected to other networks at the same time. |

Re: New Rio Issues, refuses team number and programming
I have only set a static IP on a windows XP and under that you can have a static IP and an automatic DNS address at the same time. I just looked at the static IP settings under Vista and it appears that you can't do that any more. I assume that you are using Vista. That said, as far as I know the DNS settings shouldn't matter, and it should work under Vista.
I hope you get this working. |

Re: New Rio Issues, refuses team number and programming
Another important tip is to disable firewalls on the computer connecting to the cRIO (or DS).
Yet another tip is to try a different computer. We had trouble connecting with the cRIO on Saturday. We did a lot of thing, but one of the last things was to switch to another computer and a lot of problems went away. Could be coincidence, but it is always worth a try. |

Re: New Rio Issues, refuses team number and programming
If you use school computers you might have the proxy still on. You have to turn it off when doing most of the configuration. To do that you go to Internet options-connections-LAN settings.
