Anything wrong with these? Say we wanted to mount it pointing down on the ground?

Function? non-functional i guess... but it would help a bit in direction of course.

If this laser pointer has any function (or the potential to have a function) it is strictly prohibited by the rules. Even if it isn't I think FIRST would fail you on your inspection as a danger to others.

Do you know where the center of gravity is on a robot that is 28 inches wide, 30 inches long, and 10 inches high? As i said in General, we were doing jumps off the 4 inch bar to test this thing out, and not once did it flip...
Besides, we would have the thing on a button anyway, so we only use it durring parts of the round and turn it off when we were doing any movements besides horizontal...

Is that thinking good enough?

I think this convo. has gone a little farther than a simple "Can we use a laser or not?" Relax. Why would you only use the laser in parts of the round? Just curious. FIRST may rule it as a driving aid instead of just decoration. (Only my opinion) As it was stated before, they may also veiw it as a safety hazard. I don't know. I'm not a judge. I say put it on there anyway. If they say take it off then take it off. Simple as that. If its only decoration it won't be a terrible loss if you have to remove it.

Me and anton were just playing around, we had an idea of using a lazer pointer, but then we realized that the only reason we needed one on was for directional purposes, and that would act as a driving aid, so we killed the idea in the second week. It is kinda like the helicopter idea, a really cool idea if it could be implimented...but not something anyone is gonna try doing.

We've already thought through this entire conversation, that's why i got a little angry when Mike told us to start thinking...
