testing telemetry at competition

Reference this thread, and please forgive my ignorance of all matters RC.

Is running off tether in the pits a non-issue with the new control system or is that expected to still be a requirement?

Seeing as 18 robots can be driven on an overdrive field, it probably is not a problem but I expect First to keep the rule as to ensure security.

In conversations with people involved with the development process last year they said that not only would running on tether be required anywhere except on the field, but they would be able to detect such activity and pinpoint its location within feet. That was, however,an informal conversation and a lot can change in nine months. We'll know for sure in a couple of days.

Having had a job that involved tracking down rouge APs--the only way that I could see this working is by cross-referencing team numbers(which can be found by monitoring the signal) and team pit locations. Otherwise, it's too much work to pin down the physical location(but if they have your team number they don't really need to anyway)
