Quick Question
Posted by Steve Cohen at 2/3/2001 5:25 PM EST
Other on team #135, Penn High School, from Penn High School and National Steel/Bosch/Honeywell/NASA. Is it true that we can use whatever type of controller we would like for our robot? I heard this from somewhere, and I just want to make sure it's true. Thanks in advance... |

Innovation First : controllers only. : Joe J. i may have misunderstood the question...but if this is what answers ur question, then i do agree.... only INNOVATION FIRST controllers. www.innovationfirst.com i can only imagine what i can do with this robot if i were allowed to control it with a laptop.... -anton |

Not much. It would be, IMHO, virtually impossible to build a control system in the 6 weeks allotted. |

(and always always check the rules.) -anton |

Student on team #115 from Monta Vista. In Reply to: Quick Question Posted by Steve Cohen on 2/3/2001 5:25 PM EST: : Is it true that we can use whatever type of controller we would like for our robot? I heard this from somewhere, and I just want to make sure it's true. : Thanks in advance... in team update 5, FIRST says: JOYSTICK UPDATE CH Products has discontinued manufacturing the Flightstick line of joysticks and is now permanently out of stock. Therefore, FIRST is revising the Additional Hardware List such that teams may now purchase and use any “PC joystick port compatible” joystick, flight yoke, steering wheel, and/or pedals with a 15 pin interface (i.e. not USB). Please note that not all devices are guaranteed to be compatible with the Innovation First control systems, but most should work. Also, note that not all joysticks contain center-adjust calibration features, which may make use more difficult, so please shop carefully. |
