Re: 2009 - Ice Game

i think if the game was on ice it would be very fun and hard to control the robots which would make it more challenging

Why not curling, Spikan? Much more challenging, getting a rock on a single target.

I think that something like curling would be right in the spirit of FIRST. Challenging, but not impossible.

Re: 2009 - Ice Game

An ice game would be awesome! Except for the fact that we here in Las Vegas don't have a lot of ice to go around in late March. Impracticable, but it would be an amazing game.

Re: 2009 - Ice Game

Sooo... now that we've more or less proven the ice game theory, how do we go about testing our robots on this? If you look at the rules, it's a gel coated polymer, which I've no idea how to simulate or purchase, and even here in Colorado, ice is a bit impractical right now, considering how expensive ice time is, not to mention scarce. Unfortunately we're in the middle of hockey season (my brother is a bantam player on a CC team), so finding ice time outside of 2am is going to be a nightmare, so that's kind of out the window. Surely someone has an idea? Or maybe I'm totally missing the mark?

Re: 2009 - Ice Game

There are multiple threads discussing this.

http://chiefdelphi.com/forums/showth...t=71033&page=2

The bottom line that I've gathered, though, is you're looking at paying ~$28 per 4x8 sheet or so. Pretty expensive stuff. Good luck.
