Manipulating Super Cells

Once you can legally use super cells, must you throw them directly into another team's trailer or can you toss them to your robot so that, assuming it can pickup/throw the pieces, it can place the super cell in another team's trailer?

Re: Manipulating Super Cells

I assumed this would be easy as both seem perfectly legal. but G23 says...

<G23>
SUPER CELL scoring – During the last 20 seconds of the MATCH, the PAYLOAD SPECIALIST may launch the available SUPER CELLS over the Alliance Station Wall and into the CRATER. The PAYLOAD SPECIALIST can SCORE a SUPER CELL by launching it into a TRAILER. If a SUPER CELL is launched into the CRATER before the last 20 seconds of the MATCH, then two (2) PENALTIES will be assigned.

The way it is worded the Payload Specialist must launch it into a trailer. It says nothing about a robot retrieving the Cell and scoring it even though that seems it should be a legal method of scoring

Re: Manipulating Super Cells

The manual and game animation say nothing about that; they just say that the super cell scores if a payload specialist tosses it into a trailer. However, I don't see why a robot can't do this. I don't think there's anything in the manual that prohibits this.

Re: Manipulating Super Cells

the wording makes me wonder whether it means that the only way a Payload Specialist can score is by launching the super cell but that there are other legal ways of scoring with them or if the only way to score with them is by having the PS launch them.

Re: Manipulating Super Cells

This should be refined in a Q&A question. I do not believe a robot should be disallowed from scoring with the Super Cells.

Re: Manipulating Super Cells

The rule doesn't state that the Payload Specialist cannot throw the Super Cell to their own robot, it merely clarifies that scoring them directly is legal. I would assume that since there is no limitation as to where in the Crater the Payload Specialist can throw the Super Cell, it is perfectly legal to throw them to your robot or your alliance partners' robots. This is just my interpretation based on the wording, you definitely want to ask this question on the official Q & A.

Thanks for the input.
This is my first year in an FRC competition, could some one link me to the official Q & A?
