Kicking a robot's bottom...

Posted by Anton Abaya at 2/4/2001 11:26 PM EST

Coach on team #419, Rambots, from UMass Boston / BC High and NONE AT THE MOMENT! .

gone are the days when we shall hear "our robot's gonna kick ur robot's a.."

i guess that's one good thing about this year's format. i recall posting something a year ago about this. but the great thing is this year, when someone says that popular phrase, i often hear a reply saying "why would you want to do that??? you're partnered with them all the time!"

no more bot kickers? no more ramming bots....?

*note, rambots is actually not based on the animal, but was actually inspired by a poster of Rambo.

HEY ANTON. I SUPPOSE IF YOU WERE SADDO/MASECHISTIC AND ON A MISSION FOR SELF DESTRUCTION, WOULD YOU SAY " MY BOT WILL KILL YOURS!!" BUT I GUESS IF YOUR INTO TOTAL OPPONENT ANNIALATION WE WOULD BE "BATTLEBOTS" I SUPPOSE THE FOLKS AT FIRST WANT TO DISTANCE THE ORG AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FROM THE "ANTI-LEAGUE" OR A PERVERSE VERSION OF BOTS AT PLAY. THIS GAME IS SO COMPLICATED THIS YEAR THAT I THINK MOST BOTS WILL SELF DESTRUCT FROM THE HUGE ARRAY OF INPUT THE FIRST TORMENTORS ARE THROWING THEIR WAY. INSTEAD OF SAYING "NEED MORE INPUT" THE BOTS WILL BE SAYING "TOO MUCH INPUT!!!!" PMGRACER

ps. well, it is cool to be able to build robots that need not be built to be sturdy, and innovative instead. civilizations could never prosper until peace had reigned. maybe we'll get cooler robots this year? too bad, i'm all for destruction (anyone wanna join battlebots with me?)

i agree...robots have feelings too. i shall start a robot rights movement.

"If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?"
---William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice

ps. i agree with you on the other point. i wonder how many robots are being made to be superbots this year... and how many will fail.
