The risk of super cells

Now ive been looking at the rules quite a bit now, and one thing that players have to keep track of is that anyone can use your supercells once they are in play. If they aren't shot straight into the baskets and touch the floor the opposing alliance can use them too. I think that players have to really keep this in mind during those last 20 sec: is it worth the risk at this point? i mean, 15 points a pop can close the gap real quick between red and blue

Re: The risk of super cells

Interesting point, but it would seem as the game is designed that the super cells will account for a large portion of the scoring potental in a game, seeing as teams can loss the right to use thier super cells in <G14>, so i think that the risk involved in the using of these super cells is part of the game, just make it so they are easier to load in the robot, or pass to the robot instead of just pitching them and praying.

Re: The risk of super cells

True but wouldn't that little window where the human play can deposit supercells through facilitate the ball going into only their bot?
Also, I'm sure that a human player can throw a supercell in the proximity of his or her robot, prompting the drivers to "pick it up" somehow.

Unless the opposing alliance's bots are hawking for supercells (might not be a bad strategy), wouldn't each alliance be technically involved in trying to score their own supercells?

Therefore, the benefits of scoring a supecell (15 points) outweighs the risks (possibly losing your supercell, or losing your supercell and having the other alliance score it)

Re: The risk of super cells

Another thing that would propably really screw up the chances of getting the supercell in your basket after you miss is the fact that all the other robotcs will be participating in "bumpercars on ice" to try and get the fallen super cell.

Re: The risk of super cells

i really doubt that a robot will have the ability to both target a lost super cell, pick it up and score it within 15 seconds (20-5 taken for the human player to throw).

Even if that does happen in extreme cases - it will worth the risk.

Not techicnally, the empty cells can be put in to the air lock at any point, and the super cells, can only be placed in play the during the last 20 seconds, so unless you pass the empty cell (since you can only herd, or carry one), over so the it can be exchange, as you sit motionless waiting for the super cell. As you can see there are somethings wrong with that.

I can see teams quickly wanting to get the empty cells to the airlocks, then moving on, thats why the rules covers if they may be thrown, so teams don't wait... and become targets.

Re: The risk of super cells

Excellent input everyone , I think this game is gonna be one of the more intense ones yet, i mean, to say that its gonna be a bit rough is a bit of an understatement.
