i though i had read somewhere that the trailer has omni wheels so it should be able to be pushed sideways also making it (a bit) easier to spin your robot in a circle

The trailer has the same wheels as the robot does.

From the list of materials and drawings, I agree that it's thirty or forty pounds. All the same, this trailer is going to make driving difficult, not only because of the surface or driving style, but because if you want to put it in reverse fast, it's going to be tough.
