I agree that the carpeted area is going to play a large role in limiting the ability of a robot to pin a robot on any outside edge. Also, I believe that it will make it easier for teams to maneuver to the outpost opening to pickup empty cells and also to deposit them into the airlock.

However, as noted by the bold, we cannot think that a pinned robot will be able to spin out due to the trailer. They will be able to move side to side along the wall, but will never be able to make that quick turnaround exit (or spin) that we usually think of when trying to evade pressure from other robots.

Re: Carpet difference or not...?

If the carpet is deep and fluffy than the wheels could get stuck in it but i dont think that the carpit will be anything above 1/2 in

The carpet is the same carpet that is usually the field surface (by usually I mean for as many years as I know, but having never seen it before I can understand your confusion)

It is indeed very thin and hard. Not deep and fluffy at all.

Re: Carpet difference or not...?

Has anybody attempted to get the coefficient of friction between the rover wheel and the carpet?
