thats what we're doing. we talked to the teacher for physics at our school and he said that it would be really hard to turn in the long and narrow orientation

Just so you know there is a big difference between that tile and the stuff they are actually using, we tested it.

Re: VIDEO of our bot moving

Have you done a test to see what CoF you have between the bot and the floor? A fish scale and some simple math can give you that number. I agree with some of the above posts, based on our robot tonight (150 and about 100 lbs, short and wide and skinny and long) you will skid quite a bit on the true surface. Good luck!

Re: VIDEO of our bot moving

All,

In addition, it is way different with the trailer. We had the same reaction when we just drove around our robot with no trailer. Then we built the trailer ... It is painful to turn that thing ... realy painful.

We also have the real floor and tile has at least double the CoF than the real floor. I will try to get video posted by tomorrow evening.

Paul

Thanks a lot, that would be a HUGE help to everyone, to see a robot driving on the real floor with a trailer hitched.

By real floor I mean the actual Glasteel brand 0.090" FRP with pebbled finish found at Home Depot.

Re: VIDEO of our bot moving

Here is a video of our '08 bot (with the '09 wheels attached) running on several sheets of regalith. I'm not sure where we got so much of it, but I can ask a mentor tomorrow. We had a "sort-of trailer" on, and it influences the driving quite a bit.

I just paid $33.00 per sheet at Home Depot. I did convince them to give me a 10% discount.

Re: VIDEO of our bot moving

We got two sheets of the real flooring today-It is most definitely slicker than tile or smooth concrete You won't believe it until you test it. We got the pebbled stuff like they showed in the kickoff. You can put all your weight on a wheel, and it still skids easily.
