operator interface board

Does anyone have any good idead for setting up all the equipment for the operator interface board. The system last year was too wide, so we had to use c-clamps; so we specifically want ideas that conform to the 1 foot by 3 foot specifications.

Try using a polycarbonate mounting system. Last year we had a little box that folded up. You had to remove the joysticks but otherwise the whole thing worked very well. You just have to make it no larger than 1'x3'. The advantage of it closing up is that it protected the whole thing from getting bumped around or whatnot. BTW, I was on team 7 at the time....

Okay Stephen, here goes. I think you're talking about the robot controller, because the OI is the thing you plug controllers into. The RC on my team's bot is mounted on a metal case we made for the battery that is mounted longitudilaly (laying down on its back). If you look, the RC is about the same size as the battery. So we've mounted almost all our electronics on the box. the RC is on top, the radio on the side, and the circut breaker is on the other side. The fuse panel, speed controllers, and switches are mounted on what would be the battery bottom. The inside of the box is lined with carpet. We found this an efficient way to consolidate our electronics.

I appreciate your help, but I was talking about the operator interface board. We use lexan to mount our joysticks/etc. on it. I was merely trying to see if anyone else had a better idea than plain lexan, but, again, I thank you for your answer.

We have a very simple system. We use a 1' x 3' sheet of plywood. We needed no clamps. We bolted the OI and used velcro to attach the rest of the joysticks, radio(when not at the competition), and button panel. It worked fine for us.
