Will trade for double solenoid valve

Posted by Vince Wilczynski at 2/9/2001 5:44 PM EST

Engineer on team #124, Whalers, from New London / Montville/ Williams School and Notheast Utilities / US Coast Guard Academy.

Is the swap shop open? Looking for a double solenoid valve. None available from FIRST. SMC says contact Fred Horde. No pneumatics vendors in immediate area to purchase from. With 540 FIRST teams, is anyone not using their's? Name your component to trade for. Thanks!

We used C. Arthur Weaver Co. in Richmond, VA as a supplier for spare SMC valves and flow controls. We managed to toast the double solenoid valve (twice!) during testing. Although we were able to get replacements from Fred Horde, we wanted to have a few extras on hand during the competitions in case we did it again (we still haven't exactly figured out what we were doing to burn out the solenoid coils in the first place - never saw a current spike or anything, they just developed direct shorts across the coils). So we were able to order them from Weaver. They have a 5-day turnaround, so order early (the double-solenoid valves were $79.00 each)! Their contact information is:
