Rule <R02> Will this stop teams using their traditional colors?

<R02>

Any devices or decorations specifically intended to jam or interfere with the remote sensing capabilities (including vision systems, acoustic range finders, sonars, infra-red proximity detectors, etc.) of another robot (i.e. changing ROBOT color to confuse opponent’s vision system)

This rule only mentions changing colors, but I was wondering, if the color of your robot was the same as the target thing on the trailer, would be this considered interference. I can think a few pretty big teams that are bright green or pink...

What do you think?

Have you asked this question on the Q&A? You make an excellent point!

Re: Rule <R02> Will this stop teams using their traditional colors?

Well as we discussed here, the vision systems that teams use will not be affected by the color of the bumpers and painted colors because the robots will not be tall enough to be recognized by the cameras.

Also <R02> only mentions the changing of a teams color to affect other teams, so if you maintain the same color throughout the competition you should be fine.

Re: Rule <R02> Will this stop teams using their traditional colors?

its an interesting point but like Alex said above, i dont think robots should get confused by bumper colors. like in Aim High when the green light was above the goal, MOE was still green I think this is something to bring up in Q&A just to make sure but as the rule is worded it should be fine.

I also would suggest bringing it up, it's better to be safe than sorry!

You pretty much answered your question.

Teams like MOE, thunderchickens, or pink wont be changing their team colors. And they certaintly aren't trying to interfere. Their colors are not used to strategically interfere with the sensors of another robot.
