Fighting the goals...

Posted by Rich at 2/14/2001 8:37 AM EST

Engineer on team #334, BTHS Knights, from Brooklyn Tech. HS and Con Ed, SIAC Keyspan.

We been practicing moving one goal
onto the bridge. Great no problemo!

But... when we try moving the 2nd
goal onto the bridge we had a hell
of a time using one robot.
With help from a 2nd robot it was
better but still difficult.
We think 3 robots maybe required
to set two goals on the bridge.
The balancing part was actually quite
easy.
Any opinions or recommendations?

Team #334

What mechanism do you use to carry the goals? Is your robot still on the bridge when it is balanced? I recomend you don't rely on 3 other robots helping you, many of the robots at the competition won't be able to do much.

The question that most teams have been fighting is, do you do everything and try to qualify on your own. Or do you build a robot that may not qualify and then get chosen for the elimination matches because you are the perfect partner.

Wildstang has obviously chosen the latter strategy. We'll see how it works out.

Our Robot doesn't have any trouble getting both goals up on the ramp. However, we designed it to have a lot of power specifically for that purpose.
