Jaguar Failure

After driving our test bot for a while today, the left motor suddenly stopped going forward. In both tank and arcade drive the motor would not spin. The status light on the Jag turns green/red showing that it is receiving input from the PWM, but voltage is never delivered to the motor going forward. We replaced the Jag and the new one works both directions. Any ideas on whether the bad Jag is fixable, or are we down one Jag?

Thanks
Paul

Please contact mailto:support@luminarymicro.com and describe what you were doing when the unit failed, and how the unit operates now.

That sound to be a classic example of one of the limit switch jumpers failing to make connection. It might have fallen out or it might be a loose pin inside the controller.

Re: Jaguar Failure

We had the exact same thing happen to us. We contacted Luminary and they are sending us two new Jaguars. We've sent the old ones back to them for diagnostics. We can't identify anything on our end that would ahve caused this, jumpers were in correctly, wiring was all good.

If it were the limit switches, the LED would have flashed red. That wasn't the case in the original problem description.

Re: Jaguar Failure

The same exact thing happened to our team. We contacted them, and we are getting two replacements free of charge. They also want our two burnt out Jaguars for analysis of the failure.

Good luck, and I hope this doesn't happen to more teams.

Re: Jaguar Failure

Just so that we can get some useful data on the new parts, please include LED status, a verification that power was removed for some time and the problem still existed, etc. i.e anything that may help others who may or may not have the identical failure. It is important in watching for trends or just random cockpit errors. This is not a reprimand just a simple request.
